Ad The Visit and location buttons on each day out are ads: they open Viator, which pays us a small commission when you book. It costs you nothing extra and helps keep Nestling Quest free.
We build free reading and number apps for children aged 3–7 — free for every child, forever. We don’t sell your data and we don’t run ads at your kids. When you book a day out through this page, our commission pays for that work. No extra cost to you.
Yes. Viator pays us a small commission, at no extra cost to you. It doesn’t change your price. It helps keep Nestling Quest free for every child. And it doesn’t change what we show you — we don’t sort by what pays us most. Every listing here pays us the same rate, and we list the most-reviewed first, never by what earns us more.
Not us. Viator is an online marketplace for tours, attractions and days out. It’s been going since 1995 and has been owned by Tripadvisor since 2014.
Any operator can list on Viator if they meet its guidelines — so it isn’t a hand-picked list, and we won’t pretend it is. What we do is filter it down to things that work for families with young children, and sort them by distance from your postcode so you can see what’s actually near you.
When you book, your booking is with Viator and the operator running the day out — not with us. We’re the signpost, not the seller.
Not always. Many listings come from the venue’s own ticket office and cost the same as booking direct; others come from resellers and can cost more. When we find a listing priced above the venue’s own website, we take it off. Prices come straight from Viator and are checked several times a day. Venues also run their own offers we can’t match or even see — family tickets, 2FOR1 when you travel by train, even discount codes on cereal boxes and chocolate multipacks. If you’ve got two minutes, check the venue’s own site and the National Rail Days Out Guide before you book. We’d rather tell you that than pretend we’re always the cheapest.
Often, but not always — and it’s worth two seconds of your time. Many Viator experiences let you cancel free up to 24 hours before for a full refund. Some need seven days’ notice. Some can’t be cancelled at all. Tap the Free cancellation filter to see only the ones you can cancel for a full refund. Every listing states its own policy before you pay, so have a look rather than assuming.
Every place listed here has a ticket that covers young children — usually a cheaper child ticket, sometimes one price for everyone. “Under 3s free” (or similar) means Viator lists a free ticket for that age, and where the youngest ticket is for age 3 or older the card says “Tickets from age …”. Viator’s full catalogue is aimed at all travellers, so always check the listing’s age guidance, minimum heights and what’s included. You know your child better than any filter does. Pram, wheelchair and timing details are what the operator tells Viator. We copy them several times a day, but check with the venue if they matter to you.
Contact Viator or the operator — their details are on your booking confirmation, and Viator runs a 24/7 support line. We can’t cancel, change or refund a booking for you, because it was never ours to hold.
We take what’s bookable on Viator across the UK, keep the places with a ticket that covers young children, and filter out things that aren’t for families. We don’t hand-pick them or visit them ourselves.
